3/14/2016 0 Comments Are you a leader or a followerAre you a leader or a follower
A leader is one who solves problems and influences people. A leader rather make a decision, take risks and take action. A follower are happy to be told what to do and do it well, they feel uncomfortable making a decision just in case of the consequences. Followers are intimidated by accomplishments of others as a threat. Where leaders thrive on other people’s accomplishments as motivation and are a true asset. Followers are happy to keep doing what they know. Leaders are looking at new ideas and not scared on taking on new challenges. Followers are hesitant on making racial decisions. Leaders are not afraid to make a call to action. When mistakes are made, followers are quick to blame circumstances and other people. Leaders, on the other hand, are quick to accept accountability for their actions. Leadership and followership are all mindsets/state of mind. They’re completely different ways of looking at the world. One is reactive, and the other is proactive. One is pessimistic; the other is optimistic. Where one sees a to-do list, the other sees possibilities. Leadership isn’t something that anyone can give you. You earn it, work for it and train yourself to gain it. Two BWN members are taking the initiative to collect bra's to help a charity Uplift, BWN will also support this cause to help raise more bra's with Karen and Tracey for the women of Botswana. Last year KC Global Consulting and Sorted sent close to 500 bras to Botswana for a charity called Uplift (http://www.upliftbras.org).
Many of us take wearing a bra for granted, we have many styles in a multitude of colours often changing them as we change our outfits, for many women in the world this is not the case. On International Women’s Day let’s collect as many bras as we can so that more women across the world can have a bra giving them comfort and dignity, in most cases your old bra will be the only bra they will ever own. As Botswana is a landlocked country it costs about $2 per bra to send, so in addition to needing your old bras it would be great if you could make a contribution to the delivery charges any amount would be appreciated. We will then make our next donation in the name of the Women’s Business Network. We need bras of all sizes as long as there is still life left in them, if you don’t have any bras then you may like to donate brand new pants as young girls can’t attend school when menstruating (No pre-loved pants please). Since 2005, Uplift, with assistance from Intimo and Rotary Australia World Community Service, has sent over a million bras wherever women have requested them. Uplift tries to ensure they get to the women who need them without compromising their dignity. They have sent bras to Fiji, PNG, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Philippines, Bali, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, the Northern Territory and the Kimberley regions in Australia. Sometimes it can be difficult to find the strength with in us to reach for something bigger, believing in yourself, feeling confident is just the start. Joining a network can provide you so much more then just business skills. Our members achieved wonderful things in 2015 BWN produced a booklet on how these ladies expressed how they enjoyed being part of BWN and the wonderful things they have achieved. Below are just some of the women who are on their way to success. Congratulations ladies looking forward to featuring you for 2016. To all new and existing members I look forward to working with you throughout 2016 and lets celebrate our achievements this International Women's Day. 3/12/2016 0 Comments Quote for FridayThis march we are celebrating achievements so to end the week here is a quote.
