Despite of the failed venture partnership with a well-known local naturopath, her strong determination to never give up drove her to set up Optimal Wellness. She is passionate to help & educate more people to restore their health thru natural therapies. Read below about her and Optimal wellness.
I am the eldest in the family with 2 other siblings, my father was an ex-SIA Engineer and my mother is a homemaker. I was not born with a golden spoon. My father had to work to support a family of 5 and we lived in a 3 room flat in the past decades.
I had spent 6 years in my secondary levels. Despite of the education background, I gain the experiences through my working life. My first job was Asia Pacific Brewery, the former Anchor Brewery as a Laboratory technician. Thereafter, I joined a Taiwanese Cosmetic company as a chemist which gave me the opportunity to go Taiwan for 3 months to learn the skills of the manufacturing of cosmetics products from raw to finished. In 1997, my husband encourage me to step up of my comfort zone to set up my first Trading company selling cosmetics products and raw materials to the manufacturers. In 1999, we established a cosmetic manufacturing company to provide private label brand for beauty salons and aesthetics doctors. We work with laboratories from France, Italy and USA on the formulations.
As we get to visit many congresses and exhibitions, it opens up the door for us to meet a Taiwanese aesthetics doctor. In 2006 we went into the partnership of setting up our 1st Aesthetic clinic. We also set up an International Distribution Company to distribute aesthetic products to doctors in the Asia Pacific. However, with too many restrictions from the Singapore Medical Council we decided to close the operations of the clinic. As we foresee the ageing population is growing and many people are looking for alternative measures to restore their health we catch the next wave to set up a Naturopathic Clinic with a well-known naturopath in 2010. We took up his franchisee but was cheated by him as he did not keep to his promise of delivering as a franchiser and lost almost $300k.
Despite of this failure, I persevered and set up Optimal Wellness in 2013 with my husband. It is my passion that drives me to move on to help more people. As I see my grandma and cousin in law who died of cancer suffered in great pains. There is no other ways that can help them to ease the pains except of injecting morphine. During the last week of my grandma's death, her pain was so severe that she wanted to knock her head against the wall and had to inject morphine for her. This drives me to research more natural remedies and products to help individuals to regain their health. I always believe that Prevention Is Better Than Cure

Business Women Network is a good platform to empower business women to meet and support each other on the journey. I also meet like minded female entrepreneurs, exchanging business ideas and sharing our business experiences. Michelle Mcfarlane is also actively in organising workshops for entrepreneurs and mumpreneurs to attend. I look forward in attending some of the workshops in the near future.
