Two BWN members are taking the initiative to collect bra's to help a charity Uplift, BWN will also support this cause to help raise more bra's with Karen and Tracey for the women of Botswana. Last year KC Global Consulting and Sorted sent close to 500 bras to Botswana for a charity called Uplift (http://www.upliftbras.org).
Many of us take wearing a bra for granted, we have many styles in a multitude of colours often changing them as we change our outfits, for many women in the world this is not the case. On International Women’s Day let’s collect as many bras as we can so that more women across the world can have a bra giving them comfort and dignity, in most cases your old bra will be the only bra they will ever own. As Botswana is a landlocked country it costs about $2 per bra to send, so in addition to needing your old bras it would be great if you could make a contribution to the delivery charges any amount would be appreciated. We will then make our next donation in the name of the Women’s Business Network. We need bras of all sizes as long as there is still life left in them, if you don’t have any bras then you may like to donate brand new pants as young girls can’t attend school when menstruating (No pre-loved pants please). Since 2005, Uplift, with assistance from Intimo and Rotary Australia World Community Service, has sent over a million bras wherever women have requested them. Uplift tries to ensure they get to the women who need them without compromising their dignity. They have sent bras to Fiji, PNG, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Philippines, Bali, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, the Northern Territory and the Kimberley regions in Australia. Karen & Tracey
